According to news reports, the Los Angeles Dodgers have requested depositions of Major League Baseball figures including Commissioner Bud Selig.

The request illustrates a feature of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case: the power to compel others to provide testimony regarding the debtor’s affairs. That power is subject to court supervision and can increase expenses. At the same time, it is often helpful where embezzlement is suspected, or where there are significant unexplained events that have affected the debtor’s affairs.

If you are considering requesting Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, you should consult with an attorney familiar with Chapter 11 bankruptcies to discuss your options. For a free consultation, call (480) 719-1152.
